Celebrating Ostara: A Spring Equinox gift

Balance & Transformation

I have learned over the years not to take myself too seriously when creating ceremonies for our family. When involving Muggles and kiddos, I find it best to listen and attend to the energy of the moment.

I do ask the family to set aside time, saving space for a celebration on the calendar. But, what we do, the words I say, and the objects I bring are often chosen in the moment.

In the days leading up to a seasonal celebration, I like to read about the holiday, journal, and create a list of correspondences and possible rituals. I make note of the colors and the stones and the deities associated with the season. I jot down ideas of how I want to celebrate in my Spring Planner, and let that all simmer. I trust that when the time comes, I will know what to do.

When I first started doing ceremonies, I was rigid. I scripted what I wanted to say. I made a list of all the items I wanted to use in the ceremony. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a well-crafted ceremony. But, sometimes all I have energy for is the ritual. I don’t have time or energy for preparations.

What’s the point in spending a bunch of energy on a ceremony that my family may reject.

The best guide to a family ceremony is your intuition

Trust that you know what your family will enjoy. And, if you have done some research, trust that you know what elements to bring into the ceremony.

I made a simple seed planting ritual and a note-taking worksheet to help you find your “just right” Ostara celebration.

Magical Seeds for Dreams That Come True

The “Seeding Dreams that Come True Spell”

You will need:

  1. pieces of paper

  2. a pot for your seeds

  3. seeds

  4. water

  5. soil

This ritual uses sympathetic/imitative magic to help you manifest your dreams. Planting the seeds in soil mimics your intention to send your intentions into the web of the Universe.

Before pushing the seeds into the dirt, take a moment to program them with your hopes and dreams. As you plant them, imagine the plants and your dreams thriving.
